Ashley Moran

Board Member, Deputy Chair

Ashley is co-director of the Center for Law and Democracy at the University of Texas at Austin, where she teaches on democratic and constitutional development, with a particular focus on divided and conflict-affected societies. She is a distinguished scholar at UT’s Strauss Center for International Security and Law and research director for the Comparative Constitutions Project. She previously worked in Eurasia and the Middle East on democratic development and rule of law issues. Ashley’s current research focuses on post-conflict constitutional design, the evolution of new institutions, and dynamics of state identity and legitimacy.
