Data update: Integration of data from new sources in ACLED’s Haiti dataset

Update - Completion of data enhancement project

On 17 November 2025, ACLED published the second and final installment of a data enhancement project to incorporate data collected from three new sources, Juno 7, Trip Foumi, and Amerique Info 7 for Haiti. This release adds an additional 281 new events, 81 corrections to existing events, and 42 new fatalities to the dataset covering the period from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2019. Data from 1 January 2020 to present was already published in the first tranche of data published on 2 September 2025 (see previous update below).

The updated combined totals for the project are:

Correction period and scope: 1 January 2018 to Present; all Haiti data.

Total number of events added: 1,164

Total number of events corrected: 532

Total number of new fatalities added: 1,044 (525 from new events, and 519 from corrections to existing events)

Previous update:

On 2 September 2025, ACLED published data from three new sources, Juno 7, Trip Foumi, and Amerique Info 7, to improve ACLED’s coverage of events in Haiti. This partial release expands data coverage from 1 January 2020 to present. A forthcoming publication will extend coverage of these sources to earlier years. 

Analytical Note: This release is a partial output of ongoing data enhancement work and currently covers events from 1 January 2020 to the present. Data for earlier years will be included in a future release. Users should take this into account when making historical comparisons involving periods before 1 January 2020.
